C-ECO’s Peter Bartel presented the C-ECO business model to the guests. Fukuchi (Director of the division) introduced the Japanese strategy for circular economy. The participants discussed about existing circular economy strategies and possible ways to improve those globally. C-ECO also presented their requests to a political frame-work based on practical experiences in the EU. Future contact is planned to drive the new ideas from the meeting forward.

As Fukuchi pointed out in her presentation, Japan enhances 3Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle)  and strengthens circular economy with new technologies that create a new lifestyle. Fukuchi also described the upcoming issues concerning lithium batteries (for cars, computers, smartphones and more). This issue is also well known by C-ECO. Within the EU-funded project “CarE-Service”, C-ECO is helping to develop a circular economy model for used car batteries to handle emerging challenges of the increasing trend towards e-mobility.
